His story

A life well lived

Poke was born on a quiet morning and spent the next eighty-some years making the people around him feel like the most important person in the room. He raised a family, kept a garden that the whole street envied, and never once let a good story go untold.

He found the world endlessly interesting. He read the paper front to back, learned the name of every neighbor, and in his later years fell head over heels for his phone - typing out long, loving notes to anyone he loved, always with too many exclamation points and at least one emoji he wasn’t totally sure about.

What people remember most is how present he was. A message from Poke arrived the moment you needed it, and somehow always knew exactly what to say. He is survived by the family he adored and the countless friends who still expect their phones to light up with his name.

Hi Grandpa. The garden bloomed again this spring - the roses you planted came back, just like you said they would. We think of you every morning over coffee.

I still have every message you ever sent me. You never missed a birthday, never let a joke go unanswered. Save me a seat by the water.

Thanks for teaching us how to fish, how to wait, and how to text in all caps. We love you to the moon. 🌙
